Well…till a patch is not made available, its highly recommended that you don’t use Excel 2007 to make any strategic decisions. It could cause a major disaster to your company and to your career!!

Microsoft is going to be giving away Works for free in an attempt to take on OpenOffice and Google Docs.

MS Works will be become an advertisement based free product. This has not yet been confirmed by Microsoft but the rumor mill is strong that this might happen quite soon.

I’m not really sure that even if this happens, will Microsoft be able to curb the growth of OpenOffice or Google Docs.

Microsoft has claimed that free source is of such high quality because it is violating nearly 235 of its patents and now it wants royalties for all the infringements.

The fate of Linux and other free software is not known yet; and how M$ wants to take them on in is also not known. This will be an interesting case to follow to see how it impacts the world of free and open source software.
